On playing the return match at Oroua Bridge, the Himatangi team lost the game through not being accustomed to playing in water and mud, their opponents winning by 20 points to nil. A euchre tournament was held in the schoolroom last Wednesday night between Himatangi and Taikorea The local team won by five games. After the tournament was finished both teams 7? Wn t0 a s Plendld spread, for which Mr Gibbs was the caterer. The conditions were that the losing team pay for the supper, costing Is 6d per head. Oroua Bridge are now challenging the winners.

The local rifle team are ejecting Captain Mouneey down from Palmerston to swear them in as a Defence Jiifle Club. There is some talk of holding a social on the occasion, the arrangements to be made as soon as the date of the captain's visit is known definitely. Captain Hartley informs me that he is holding a sheaf of challenges from other clubs, which will all be taken up as soon as the team are sworn in. Mr J McAlister has resigned his position as roadman for the Manawatu County Council and is now residing in Palmerston North. During the many years he resided here he proved to be a valuable servant to the County Council, and we all hope he will be as successful m his new sphere of life. Mr Harry Alciowhas been appointed to the vacant position.

It is reported that Mr Pollock has been appointed manager of an estate in Woodville, for which place he left on Saturday. His farm will be carried on by his eldest son.
