Accidents and Fatalities.

AUCKLAND, September 30. At the inquest to-day on Neil Tolen, whose body was found in tbe Avon at Burwood yesterday, a verdict of found drowned was returned.
. DUNEDIN, Sept 80. Henry Jones committed suicide a. Palmerston by shooting himself. It appears that he suffered from pains at the back of the head, which prevented him from sleeping.- "He complained of these pains to a groom at the hotel and reminded the latter-that it was time to go. to breakfast. During the groom's absence, Jones ■ fixed up a doublebarrelled gun, and discharged the gun by means of a string attached to the trigger, the shot blowing away a considerable portion of his head. Jones was a groom, and last year was in charge ot one of the Government stud horsea;_ He was about .55 years "old. At the inquest, a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned.
