Vi _Mr J; McGowan, ■Commissioner -of Taxes, died suddenly at Station Peak (Kurow) to r day. -With Mr Barron, he was inspecting the property on behalf of the Land Purchase Department. Both gentlemen were 6ut on the.hills in the morning, and on returning to the homestead Mr McGowan took a drink of water. He was shortly afterwards seized: with violent pains in the stomach, and although everything possible was clone for him he suddenly, collapsed. If an mquest is deemed necessary, it will be held at Oamaru.
