Pig Industry.
In a lecture on the commercial aspect of the pig industry, Mr Potts, principal of the Hawkesbury Agricultural College, pointed- out that New South Wales does not produce pigs enough to feed her own people. The number of bacon factories in 1902 in New South Wales was 123 and in Victoria 285. and the output of bacon | in New South Wales in 1902 was nearly | 9,000,0001b in weight, and in "Victoria 14,500,0001b, showing that there waa^ ample room for the expansion of this valuable industry, not only in feeding their own people but also for export purposes. In 1902 England imported £18,500,000 worth of baoon, hams and frozen pork—about 250,000 tons. During the last 12 years England had Bimply doubled her demand for pig products. They also had markets much closer to their own shores yet unexplored in the East and other place?. ,
