' BOMBAY, September 27. The : Tibetan Regent has presented Brigadier-General Macdbnald with a gold image of Buddha, thanking him that the monasteries were spared. .The mission has quitted Lhassa and reaches Gyangtse on the sth.
Tangshaoki, the. Taotai of, Tientsin; who was educated at Yale College and was for some time secretary 'to Yuan•shikhaij has been ordered to investigate and manage Tibetan affairs, with the rank of Lieut.-Geheral.
