Arbitration Court.

(Per Press Association)

a ' WELLINGTON, September 26. At the Arbitration Court to-day, the Bakers' Union brought a case against F. McParland for an enforcement of the' award. Respondent admitted the breach, which occurred at Christmas time. Bread had to be made on the Friday, before Christmas, for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but the Terrace Gaol, according to contract, had to have fresh bread every day, and the gaoler rang up to say that the prisoners would not have stale bread and refused to go to work, so the men had to be called to work on the holiday so as to give the prisoners fresh bread. "The Inspector of Awards had since learnt that the prisoners were almost in revolt about the bread. They were without new bread from 24th to 28th December.- The workmen were paid overtime. The case was dismissed. -■ The Court was engaged most of the day in hearing applications for enforcement of the award. In most of them fines were inflicted.
