The newly-married wife of a farmer^Eiehard Thomas—of Hautapu,. suicided at the Nursing Home, Cambridge, by taking carbolic acid. • The deceased had been nervously depressed for some time, and frequently said she would take her life or some one else would kill her. A verdict of suicide while temporarily deranged was returned.

AUCKLAND, This day. The barque_ Onyx, driven ashore by the gale at Kaipara on Friday, has been floated off undamaged.
