LONDON, Sept. 28. The Standard states a student in disguise was arrested for firing a revolver almost point blank at the Governor of Odessa yesterday. The Governor escaped injury.
Lady Curzon is suffering from acute peritonitis and is in a very critical condition, but she had slightly improved early this morning.
The Rev. Dr. Paton, of Nottingham, on ".behalf of the National Free Church Council, has addressed a manifesto to the Free Church Councils of Britain, announcing the initiation of a great forward movement in permanent Christian social work by the'evangelical churches, embracing friendly visits to the poor and suffering, work among the criminals and visits to workhouses.

NEW YORK, September 28. The Archbishop of Canterbury was travelling in Mr Pierpont Morgan's special train to Washington when the train collided with an engine at East Brookfield. The Bishop escaped with a shaking.
