The Supreme Court sessions opened this morning before Mr Justice Denniston, who again complimented the district on the absence of serious crime. Only three criminal cases are set !down, two being for petty thefts and one for false pretences. The civil business is also light, and business will probably be all finished by to-morrow.' In the Supreme Court, before Mr Justice Denniston, Octavius Foote pleaded guilty to a charge of fake pretences,probation for twelve months being allowed. John Alexander, for theft at Reefton, pleaded guilty. Being an old offender he was sentenced to five years' imprisonment. ■'." " .
