Fancy Dress Carnival.

The repetition of the Municipal Band's carnival took place yesterday on the Showground. The wet weather resulted in a very small attendance.

The winners of the various oontests were as follows:—

Football—Junior, Kia Toas; thirdclass, Methodists.

Hockey—Old Boys B. The prizes were awarded as follows : — Best advertisement, Mr Culpitt (Mr Sadd's trophy); best Fancy Dress, Mr McCall; funniest character in hockey match, Mr Tnrley first, Mr Hunwick seoond; best decorated bicycle, Miss Violet McGrath; speoial prize, Master Cecil Pye, for his advertisement representation. , - '
