■\ ' DTOTEDIN, September 39. A large and enthusiastic meeting was held this evening in connection with the suggested removal of the School of Mines. The following resolutions were carried: -."That this meeting emphatically protests against, the prpposalof the Government to withdraw their.support from the Otago School of Mines, as such would have the effect of closing the school, and would be a gross injustice to. its graduates; that the Government be asked to continue to provide, and, if possible, increase, the subsidy to the Otago School of Mines, as ; it is the opinion of this meeting that the success of the school, and- the small'cost at \yhich it: has been earned -ori,Vnierit recognition and a continuance of theuO support, and that their doings need not interfere 'with; the^.--establishmont: vof- ra School of Mines in the North Island."
