Hockey.
ihe wet weather yesterday effectually prevented^ the Cup' fixtures from being p[_yed. Tho members of tho various teams were eager for the games, but the Association decided that tho ground, being in a soft condition, might be considerably cut up. In view of their match on Saturday against tho AVellington United team, several members cf the __lmr-r._ton eleven indulged in a scratch match with players from other clubs, and obtained sumo beneficial practice. In the United, iho Palmersions will have very doughty opponents; but if tbe usual order of things is rovers.d, and they got a full team on tho ground, the local men soould give a good account of themselves.
Tho match will commence at 1.30 p.m.
