Th- tender of Mr J no. Shadboß of £7 for legging up tho reserve was also accepted.
_ O.n Saturday evening a very pleasant tune was spent in the Awahou Hchoi. . when the Rev. C. C. Harper entertained i be residents with a magic lantern, in "Jd ot the school iuuds. At the . onelus;on Mr Harper presented Miss W lUinson with a handsome writing desk, the gift of the Sunday School phohirs, who haye much appreciated her good work as teacher, and much regret her removal from tho district.
Atthe meeting of the School Committee on Saturday, Messrs Howison, Moar, Mink, Barrow, Lucas and Lukeis were present. The Master's report showed an average of 52, with 5S on the roll. It was decided to give a week's holiday during Coronation week, the winter holidays to be postponed until after the examination. It was retiorted that the subscriptions for planting trees and fencing totalled £3 12s, and more was expected. It was decided to instruct the Chairman to write to the Board urging the painting of the school and other repairs. The ensign for the- school from the AVangnuui Education Board was received. It was reported Hint Inspector Milne promised to urge ou theJ.oaid the necessity of alteration lo infant gallery. In regard to the invitation Irom Palmerston for the children to attend the Coronation celebiations, it was resolved to hold a special meeting on the 14th inst. to consider the matter. ■-It was decided to ask the Pohangina bounty Council whether they are going to do anything to celebrate the 'Coronation. Accounts lo the amount of .CI Us (id were passed for payment aud the meeting adjourned.
