The Cornwall Family.

The Cornwall Family of belhingers, Spanish troubadours, vocalists, and instrumentalists, etc., as announced in our advertising columns, open for a short season of two nights only at the Theatra Royal on Friday, June Bth. The Family, who have been doing excellent business during their New Zealand tour, have made a great name for thernselres by their clever manipulation of the bills and Spanish instruments, and comprise ths following artists :—Mr lustle Cornwall, the tenor, was trained in Milan, the home of singing, by the famous maestro Signor Moretti, and in London by Henry J. Wood. He was specially engaged in London by Sir Augustus Harris to sing at the Opera Comique in several of his favourite operas, and also lato of St. James' Hall, Piccadilly. This artist alona is worth going a long way to hear. The other members of the Family are : — Miss Ethel Cornwall, contralto, mandolinist, and a brilliant performer on the 'cello, sleighbells, and wine glasses; Mr Francis Cornwall, basso, 'celloist, and comedian ; Master Horace Cornwall, boy alto and guitarist; Miss Noras, soprano and mandolinisfc; and Mr H. Cornwall, 'pianist. The Company, who are all members of a family, are spoken very highly of by papers elsewhere, which consider their bellringing far superior to any previously heard in the colony. A special feature of the Family is their Spanish band, consisting of mandolines, guitars and 'cello, and it is proclaimed by those who have heard it to excel that of the Spanish Musicians, who toured the colonies with much success some years back. The rest of the programme is made up of Spanish songs, glass- 1 ringing, sleigh bells, and vocal and instrumental items. Taken altogether, it is an excellent combination, and it is quite safe to say that a more talented and better trained family never toured the colonies, and the inhabitants of Palmerston North should greet their opening night on Friday with a bumper i house.
