LETTERS FROM THE FRONT.
Sergeant-dispenser Macpherson, writing from Wytiberg Hospital (eight milos from Capetown), on the 6th April, says: —" I notice that poultry, beef, muttoD, aQd butter are stamped with either Victtt'Hftl or Queensland brands. In fact, Queensland has supplied a great amount of the meat used by the army out here. What has New Zealand been doing in this respect ? This should have been a good chance of getting its products on the South African markets. We are all dressed alikj, in a loose indigo blue uniform, and we are not allowed outside the hospital grounds. These two facts make one thick of the very early settlors in Botany Bay. Hospital ships leave Table Bay for England twice a week, taking men home. . . . Two New Zealand boys are going to England next week, and it may be some months before they are fib to return to New Zealand. _ riW?
