COMPENSATION FOR LOYALISTS.

Hobabt, May 30,

The Waiwera has brought Cape files to May sth. Farmers, storekeepers, and other residents north of the Tugela are up in arms against the action of the Invasion Inquiry Commission, which will only accept evidence regarding direct losses.

A meeting was held at Ladysmith and a motion carried in favor of an ap* peal to the Imperial Government for more generous treatment.

A deadlock is threatened, it being tacitly agreed that if the Commission declines to recognise what the united bodies consider right, no more claims will be submitted until better terms are made.
