Faulty Telephone Tunnels.

For some time past ttye alleged faulty packing of the telephone tunnels recently constructed under the streets of the oity has given riße to alarm. Several exploratory openings were made) and showed that open spaces existed between the \ roadway and the tops of the tunnelsj and dangerous subsidences were feared. Yesterday the City Corporation took the matter in handi and sent men to make examinations. The Postal Depart* mont's men were prevented from filling up certain openings made, and the Municipality invoked the aid of the police, The city officials are now making a searching examination under polioe proteotioDk ' . ] ' _ The has issued instrno* tione ara tint to be with.
