The Wainui Ashore.

Per Press Association. Wellington, July 14. The Union Company have received a wire stating that the Wainui the head of Waikawn Say, in a secure position on a soft beach. Her stem and fore foot are broken and buckled to the port side. At low water she is dry to 3ft 6in, Dunedin, July 14. A telegram from the Union Company's agent at Westport says that the Corinna had arrived, having left the Wainui at 5 o'clock yesternight. Captain Downie thinks that if all the cargo and coal are taken out of the forehold, and the forepeak filled with cement, there would be no trouble in taking the ship to Wellington. One blade of the propeller is lost. Westport, July 14. Captain Downie reports that the Wainui lies well sheltered from all weathers. Captain Lambert sent a boat ashore and got Wells, a settler, to place lights on the best part of the beach and ran the steamer full speed on to the sand. Captain Downie heard nothing of the Wainui striking a second time on " Hole in Bock Point." The steamer is making a little water forward. It is understood that the Wainui grazed alongside the Beef Barrels, and did not run over the rocks. As everything was safe, there was no necessity for the Corinna to remain. Nklson, July 14. There is nothing further about the Wa'nui, except that she was safe on the beach at Waikera Bay. The Taupo v. .'ll rjlieve her of her coal, and the Duoo, with pumps and salvage gear, was to leave Wellington yest3raa,v afternoon.
