The ordinary meeting of tho above Board wos held this afternoon:—Prosent Wardensßuiok (chairman), Bryant, Smith, Knight, Luxford and Sanson. Correspondence was received from J. P. Innes, and L. Waters, requesting alterations in the rnto books.—Granted From P. Gamety asking lor permission to out firewood on Carneions lineTo apply again in three months. From R. Drury, asking permission to keep gate erected on Camoron's line.— No action taken. From the Borough Council drawing attention to the damage being done to streets at Terrace End by the largo quantity of metal- being carted for the requirements of the Board.—.Decided to reply the Board does not recogniso any responsibility. From the Manchester Bond Loard, requesting tho prosenco of tho Chairman at a mooting of delegates to be held in connection with proposed byelaws The Board decided to meet and oonsider the byelaws at an early date. From H. S. Fitzherbert, on bohalf of J. Harris, with reference to tho water table on Rangitikei line.—No action taken. , From tho Land Department ro subsidy due to the Board for 1896-97—Eo-From the Treasury, that £483 4s 3d Interest was due.—Received. ' From M. Hughey with reference to Drury's gate on Cameron's line. It was deoided that all obstructions would have to be removed from the road. i From H. T. Flyger, chairman of tho Awahuri Dairy Company, requesting (hat the road in front of Mr H. Sent s geotlon on Panyitikoi Linn should bo formed so as to give access to tho proposed faotory of tho Awahuri Dairy Company.—Decided tohavo three chains formed, the overseer to attend to the work.

/ REPORTS. /The Engineer reported that during the month several minor works on tho roads bad been completed; 180 chains of the Kawau stream had been cleated, water-tables had received attention and a culvert had been placed across tho road on No. 4 Line to carry away flood water. The .very wet/ weatber had greatly retarded work 6n the various contracts, which, however, would be completed at an early date. The Napier road will' require about 250 yards of metal to carry it over the winter. The Inspector of Slaughterhouses, Mr De Blois, reported with reference to the sheep killed at the Longburn Freezing Company's works during tho soason, partioulars of which have already been publfched in this journal. MISCELLANEOUS.

It was deoided to cloae for heavy traffic Upper James' Line, the top end of Kelvin Grove road, the BunnythorpeStoney Creek road, and the newlyformed portion of the railway road rear the borough boundary towards Roberts Line. _ Permission was granted Wilson & Co. to lay a tram across the Aorangi road, the firm promising to keep tho road in good repair and remove the lines when requested, and permission was grantod on these terms. It was decided to do the necessary repairs on Napier Road as suggested by the Overseer. ,'Cona'idprable disoussion ensued on tlio shortage of metal on Bpyen' road contract let to Messrs Lane and Dobbs. Wardenjinight said there wm no doubt the metal was short and he thought that the Board should have supported the Overseer in tho stand he had taken. He would have preferred to have seen the case go into Court because he obieoted to being " had." Ho would have proved the amount of niotal spread by having it all raked up again at his Own expense. . It waß explained to Warden Knight, who wasnot present at the lust meeting, that the Board were not, at all satisfied With the matter.
