The following report from the Local Bills Committee was read m the House to-day, on the Wanganui Harbor Board Bill. The Local Bills Committee to whom was referred the above bill; that the standing orders have been complied with, and they recomjnend that the bill be allowed to proceed." The committee | to state that the evidetice adduced shows that the ium proposed to' be raised, v|2f., £40,000, will be insufficient to make a harbour suitable for large vessels. The bill does apt ask for additional borrowing powefs,but that io order to secure the payment' of interest on the balance of loan to be raised, rates should be sanctioned..
