Governament Life Insurance.
(united press association ) Wellinoton, Tuesday. At the meeting of the Government Insurance Association last night, 'Sir Julius Jogel, ctiairman, reported that 2751 votes had been recorded m favor of Mr Shannon, and 1428 m favor of Mr Graham. The : Chairman moved the adoption of the -report, which was carried. Major Atkinson desired to move an amendment— That no buildings should be erected m Wellington or elsewhere. The Chairman ruled that it could not be put ; and Major Atkinson Baid he would call a special meeting to discuss the question. The Chairman announced that Mr J. Duthie > would be recommended for the seat rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr Shannon, and that a Bill would be introduced into the House legalising; the division of quinquennial profits as soon as the actuaries' report was received from Home, so as to obviate any delay. A special meeting will be then held. Mr Bell proposed a resolution to the effect that the control of the institution be Landed back to the Government. In consequence of the lateness of the hour, it was decided to adjourn until Monday,
