POLITICAL NEWS.
■ [Wellington: papers.] ■;. ' There is some ' new move going on about the House. It is undefined — intangible — mysterious, but it evidently has something to do with no- confidence. Possibly there is something brewing about the Loan proposals. Mr Bryce has already stated that he will vote against a million and a naif being raised, and some others, it is said, are m favor of borrowing half a million only aiid it is likely the lioan Bill will be made the subject of a vigorous attack, though any such attack can scarcely be supported by those who are so clamorous for increased ■votes for their pet railways. However, whether it concerns the Loan or some other proposal of the Government, there is something m the wind which will probabiy assume a definite form before long. On dit that the Government intend to push on the work of the session as speedily as possible, with a view to an early prorogation ; that the next session •will: be called together early m the autumn ot 1887, to pass a Representation Bill; that the Parliament will then be closed, and a fresh Parliament elected under the new Representation Aot, which -will be called together about the usual time. [Special correspondent Woodville Examiner.'] It is thought likely that the session will be brought to a plose m about six weeks, and the Government will endeavor to push business to admit of prorogation taking place about that time. It is said •with some evidence of truth that Parliament will be called together early next year to consider the new Bepresentation Bill and will then be immediately dissolved. The general elections will be held iminmediately and Parliament called together again m May or June next. There wiH therefore be two sessions next year if this turns out to be the program tue. of the Government, as. I am credibly informed it is. The question ;may. not .naturally be asked why> -not consider theißepresentation Billthisfes--Bion and so have the expense of another session- a sort of preliminary canter next year, but ; I am unable to answer. It is rumored that Bryce will move for the } reduction of the amount of the .proposed million and a half loan by half a million. Other proposals are to rate the whole' amount proposed to be raised to the carrying lines already commenced to a reproductive point, to extend no portion of the loan on new lines* and to limit the. ■expenditure to certain amounts each ..year, and bo carry the expenditure of the : million and a half over a period of tw,o or thre.e.yeaEs. ,• .!■•. ;■:'/': i
