(united press association.) - Auckland, Tuesday. Q. Harvey, one of the lamp trimmers drowned on board the wrecked steamer : Ly-ee-Moon, was a son of Mr Harvey, engine .driver at the Calliope Dock. Mr Harvey, on hearing of the wreck left ; for Sydney. It has transpired that a seaman named Lake was drowned during the cruise, and he is said to have been illused as much as the cooper. All the rneu on board corroborate the story of the deserters as to ill-treatment all round.- The inquiry takes place at Russell. Mr Campbell, solicitor, has gone up to represent the officers, Waipawa, Tuesday. A number of men are leaving the district for Kimberley. They are mostly , possessed of a little means. '■ : '-" ;f: Dunedin, Tuesday. The case of Miss Rose, known as the fasting girl, attracted great attention some 16 years ago, when Bhe lay m a trance for about six weeks. Since then .she has been confined to bed. Last week she shewed considerable improvement, and on Sunday she had an interview with a lady who claims the power of healing by faith. It is reported that on her ordering Miss Ross to arise, she got up from the bed where she had lain for nearly 16 years. Miss Ross has been paralysed on one side of late., Yesterday she was able to have a drive out. The affair has caused some excitement' m the district. Eeildinq.
