CORRESPONDENCE.
THE LIBRARY COMMITTEE'S REPORT. (to the editor daily standard.) Sir, — In your issne of yesterday, I urn reported to have stated at the Borough Council meeting held on the 2nd mst, that " The Government of Victoria had ordered the destruction of any copies of these papers passing through tha post. That is n»t exactly correct. What I did say was, ''That the Postmaster General of Victoria had ordered the detention and destruction of copies of the Liberator sent through the post office, as containing obscene and blasphemous matter." That r- mark had no reference' to the Rationalist, as one might infer from your report. I note also that your- report of? the' resolution passed by the Qciiitfcifre 'tha~-Library Committee's' report, is. correct, |naa.rr much as you have omitted altogether the latter half of the resolution. If you will kindly find space for the j above m your next issue you will 1 oblige. Youns &c, Alex. Ferguson. June sth, 1886. [We fiud that m our reporter's " copy" the latter part of the resolution was accidentally omitted. The resolution aa passed was, "Thnttha Library Committee's report be received and adopted, find that the Council endows the action of UioOoimmttoe," £)d M,D.B,J *
