Mr Gladstone has postponed the final reading of the Irish Land Purchase Bill till the autumn session, although the second . reading of the Bill will be proceeded with now. The Marquis of Hactington protests against the second reading, as the Bill is ""virtually dead. The Ttmes considers it farcical to take a vote on the second reading since the Bill is dead. Mr Bright is very indignant at the exclusive invitations issued by Mr Gladstone to the recent meeting of the Liberal party.
