On Tuesday, Mr Fiuhoi-bert, will ask the Minister for Public Works, It lie intends to supply stationmnsters piuployed on the Government railways with uniforms ? The Post has the authority o£ the Minister of Justice for stating that the Government do not, as lias been stated, intend, at present, to appoint another Juil^e of the Supreme Court. The rumour as to the intended abolition of the District Courts is said to be incorrect. On Friday the treasurer gave notice of his intention to move for leave to introduce a Bill to authorise a loan of one million and a half for the construction of railways; a Bill ; to provide for Government loans to local bodies ; and a Bill to regulate the means of borrowing by local bodies. Amons: the rumors current is one to the effect that one of the Under-Secre-taryships will shortly become vacant, and that the editor of the Wellington Everting Tost will be appointed to the position. We wonder what Sir William Fox will have to say to this ? The rumour will revive the recollection of the old story anent the interview between the Premier and the "double-dyed." There is still no definite information as to the rumoured intention to move a No-confidence motion, but the report continues m circulation that Mr Montgomery is to move a retrenchment protest, and that an attempt will be made to reduce the proposed loan to a million. In committee on the Law Practitioners Bill, Mr Samuel is to move a clause as a safeguard against the admission to practice of incompetent persons. In the Magistrate's Courts Bill, to be introduced by Mr Tole, power will be piven to Magistrates, under special delegafeiori from the Governor, to deal with insolvency business. The Public : Works Statement will not be made until next week, at the very earliest, some of the required data not yet having reached the department. Tn the account of Unauthorised Expenditure which was presented to Parliament, the following items appear : — Further compensation to B. Hardcastle, for loss of office as Resident Magistrate, Wellington, £78 ; payment to C W. Dawson. as damages, interest, and costs, for destruction of sawmill at One Tree Point, Invercargill (Working Railways AccountJ, £2,257 ; claims m case of Studholme v. Queen, for damage at Hindi Canterbury, £622. Mr Bradshaw's Bill to amend " The Employment of Females and Others Act, 1881," has been distributed. It is the same as his Bill of last year.
