At a sale of Crowii lands to-day the proceeds were £7000. The bidding was spirited, and the upset -prices were m many cases doubled and trebled. At a meeting of the City Council a rpsolution was carried, " That this Borough, having to provide for the maintenance of destitute children committed to various homes m tin's dist<'iut, claim it as a right that they should have a voice, through their ropresentativos upon the District Board, m the committal and supervision of such destitute children." The resolutions to bo forwarded to Government. The case of larceny against Mrs Sarah Ann Brister, arrested at the instance of her husband al Wellington, was dia— mispftfl to-day, thehualmud withdrawing the prosecution, and paying all the costs. Dunedin, Friday. At the Petty Court, Catherine North, for sly grog selling at Nenthorne, was fined £10 and costs.
