Hokitika, Thursday. The Bank «f New Zealand shipped, for London, per Ruapehu, 4080oz of gold and bullion, valued at £16,300. At a meeting ot the Gas Company a dividend of 83 per share was declared. INVEitCARGiLL, Thursday. A train on tho Bluff line came m collision with some cattle last nis lit. Three trucks m tho centre of a long traiu were thrown off. The passengers were brought on by the forepart of the train. All escaped with a severe shaking. The line is cleared, and traffic has been resumed. Auckland, Thursday. Kaikouba, Thursday A strange point was raised by Mr McLean m a raobit nuisance case. For the defence he urged that clause 17 of the Larceny Act, No. 2, making it an offence to kill rabbits, was a sufficient reason to refrain from destroying them, althongh the Rabbit Act makes it penal not to kill, the one Act clashing with the other. The Kincaid and Ottley Fella (.Kekerangu) sheep have been declared clean. There are only two infected flocks iv this district now. One is practically clean, and the other is m the hands of the Sheep Depattment. Chbistchuboh, Thursday. A meeting of those intending to proceed to the Kimberley goldfields was held- to-night.- Fully 300 were present, and as many more were unable to gain admission. It was decided that the s.s. Triumph be despatched for Derby en June 26th.
