THE PAHIATUA ROAD.
" (to the editor daily standard.) Sir,— ln reference to the letter signed Arthur Tern pier m last night'b issue of the Standard, L can corroborate all and every statement made m that letter, having been over the road on two orthree occasions with the late Mr Geo. Dundas. . I can only say I know of no steep grades up to the boundary of the West Coast Block, and even bsyond it, the rise is very gradual. Further, that this was the intended route some years ago, and.was shown by a plan or working drawing lent me m 1880 by Mr Knovvles, on which was plainly marked v proposed r6ad to 40 miie-bush;" which road is 'now known as Andre wartha'a line. — I am, &c.,. . Richard Andrewartha. JPalnierston North, May 21, 1886.
