Christchubch, Wednesday.

At the meeting of the Drainage Board last night, a letter w*B read from the Bank of New Zealand, declining to accept the Board's cheque for £6135, amount of interest due by the Board m London on June 30th. The manager returned the cheque, and wrote that he would not paj r the amount, until ho recoived from the Board a gurantee that they would apply to Government for additional rating power, or take such other steps as would greatly reduce the present overdraft. The Board resolved to instruct their solicitors to take the necessary stops for getting the authority of Parliament to allow them to anticipate their revenue, as is provided by the Municipal Coroorations Act.
