Mr Harbott has resigned Iris position us bandmaster to the Hawera Band. We have been askod several times if we had really been " served with a writ of injunction," as once threatened, for publishing lodgo notices " without duo authority," as they have not appeared m our columns for some time past. We are glad to say we hare not been served with any writ of injunction from the Supreme Court restraining us from publishing the said notices, but the simple fact is that there has been no space available beyond that required for pressing business announcements, many of which have had to be held over very -fre-quentiyf now u.«v .„. Hwr« ihrn* columns more at our disposal we shall bo able to insert tne Lodge notices for the benefit of the large number of members who do not Bee any newspaper but the Standard. We have received the first number of the Hastings Star, a new bi-weekly journal, published at Hastings, a few miles out of Napier. It is very creditably got up, and appears to have received substantial proofs of popular favour m the shepe ot advettising sup port. Through the machinery being recently erected, and it being found necessary to use tke rollers belonging to another machine, the impression is not so clear as it would havo been under other circumstances. We cordially wish our contemporary every prosperity aud success m the future. By the nse of still smaller type than that nf present m use m the Standard, several cases of which are to hand from a London firm of typo founders aud printers furnishers, we will be able to get a larger quantity of reading matter into th« available space than at present. This will be found advantageous m the ewe of. reports -of. meetings, »tc. It may nloo be found necessary, perhaps j to s'*t advertisements before long m smaller type thsn at present used for them.
