He says :— •' A fire has occurred here which has burnt our pah to the ground. Fire took place at half- past 10 night ot the 15th. No one was injured, but all our whares, goods, and effects were destroyed.'' Two men have been arrested on suspicion. I go "p to Waipiro to-morrow to hold an enquiry. •■- • J. Booth, R.M. Gisborne, 21st April, 1886. "W. J. Morpeth, A.U.S., Wellington. On the 2nd instant a whare belonging to one ot Tuta Nihoniho's people was burnt. A girl was burnt to death, and a man, m trying to save her, was so badly burnt, that he will probably die. The tire was thought to be accidental. Since Tuta's pah was burnt incendiarism is suspected. The whole matter will be carefully enquired into by me at Waipiro. The sergeant m charge of the district left here for Waipiro yesterday. J. Booth, E.M.
