ThecaptairLof the steamer Paramatta, landing these sheep, has-been fined £10. Sydney, April 14. At the Water Police Court on Monday, Edward E. Brown Holt was charged with having embezzled £1400, received on account of the Bank of New Zealand while he was manager. This charge was withdrawn, as there was no evidence. Holt was next charged With having appropriated a cheque entrusted to him by John William Cliff for payment to Mills and Pile. Accused, who reserved v his de- : fetice^ waR committed for trial at the quarter sessions to be held by the,,. ,20th. f May. Bail w>s allowed m, two "sureties.' A tliird charge of having, 1 , as servant of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, stolen a oheqiie and money amounting to £1500, was adjourned till Thursday next.
