(TO THE EDITOR OF THE STANDARD.) " ' Sir. — 1 was glad to see that the Cale-i donian Society meeting treated the advertising question with a fair spirit. Ayhatev.er influences werii at work, the Society ljas now said, "We ate .determined to do what is fair between both newspapers. I had hoped that ■ this spirit of partizanship on the part of one, or two had disappeared,- but it still appears to crop up now and again. I h*pe we have now seen and heard the last of these attempts to work up party spirit, for private ends. The Caledonian Society is to be commended for the fair and impartial manner m which it treated ; the question. I fm, &c, ■ . ., . A Member.
