Entertainment at Feilding.
A capital programme was submitted to an overflowing audience m the Feildmg; Town Hall last evening. A number of residents of Palmerston attended .and greatly enjoyed the trip and the concert. IWe have nothing but praise for the vocal and intrumenfcal items, which were rendered almost faultlessly. Some of the songs were particularly well given, but we have not space to particularize. In the second part, which comprised Gilbert and Sullivan's well-known and very popular operetta entitled " Trial by Jury," the characters were capitally sustained, and fairly to-k the audience by surprise m the excellent manner the piece was put on the stage. The performance was, we understand, m aid of the English Church, and the financial proceeds must have been a substantial amount. Mr Cohen's violin solos elicited storms of applause, fairly brine- < ing down the house. We congratulate all concerned on the very pleasant and i successful entertainment. , |
