It will be presented tq-raorrow at the Theatre -Royal. A million and a half acres, of land passed through the Native Land Court et Taupo. Tongariro and Ruapehu were made public. A deputation of the Trades and Labor Council suggested to the boot manufacturers the appointment of a committee of masters and inert to settle the strike difficulty. The masters are considering the proposals. Dunedin, Wednesday. The New Zealand Piste Glass Insurance Company have declared"* dividend of ten per cent for the year, - and . carry forward a small balance. Daily accessions are being made to the ranks of the unemployed. Altogether 300 men are now engaged m the relief works, and 22 more applied on Monday and 6 yesterday. The present works are nearly completed. Mr Alexander Todd, one of the early settlers, died yesterday, ag«?d 83. He arrived m 1840, having previously been a banker m Glasgow. The local Bootmakers' Union have forwarded £30 to those on strike at Auckland.
