At the Auckland Presbytery, the Rev Mr Willon of Wangarei, who recently passed the law examination, applied for permission to practice and accept a reduced salary. The Ray Mr Boyd thought it a dangerous proposal, and moved that the application be rejected. Ultimately, the matter was deferred', to see what his congregatian thought of it. Wellington, Wednesday. Tt is stated that, complaints having been made to the Minister of Justice of the publication m " Whose Who," a local production, of all persons who have confeaaed judgment m the Magistrate's Court, Mr Tole has issued instructions to the clerks not to permit any one m future to examine the court books or documents. The Aorangi, which leaves for London to-morrow, has already booked 250 passengers. Mr E. W. Morrah, the Superintendent of the Bank ot Australasia, will iepreHenc the Wellington Chamber of Commerce at the Conference of the Chnuiber of Commerce m London during the Colonial and Indian Exhibition.. A coat has~been washed ashore with several papers addressed to P. J. McVane, and these are supposed to be connected with the body of the young man found floating m the harbour on Sanday. Information has been laid against W. F. Ross, fruiterer, for perjury. The offence is alleged to consist m defendant .--■--•having made a false declaration for the purpose of bringing certain lands under the Land Transfer Act. Dunedin. Tuesday. The racing rules as proposed by subcommittees of thn Canterbury and Dunedin Jockey Clubs, were adopted at the special meeting of the D.J.C. this evening- ■
