THIS DAY. !•■■■- '< Present— Wardens Snel&m (chair), Mathieson, Edwards, and, Sly. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. ' ' .The correspondence was also read and received^ * ' the application'by the Board-made to'the . WelHngtqh-Manawatu Bailway Company for rates amounting to £62 405, -on the suggestion of Warden Sly it was resolved to make application again ! for the amount. Me deviation of road at Longburn Junction.' - It, was decided that Messrs Snelson and Sly 'should accompany the Besident Engineer of the Company and arrange ■ and report as to the matter m dispute. ■■ The Engineer wrote to -the Chairman to Wellington and interviews he had had with various: Ministers, re mat- j ters affecting .the Board's district, viz., ' the Fitzherbert-Gorge Road, the Foxton :■ Road through Native lands, and the road ■ across the, TararuaT Ranges. Be the. latter, he had also since interviewed the ■ Pahiatua Road Board and received a promise that that Board would do every-.-thing in 1 its power to push forward the. ; matter and assist m procuring a grant for itgy eonßtructtotn '• The. Hospital Coinmittae^ad wntten, ( T re probable amount required for 'the'' 1 .year by the Board. A reply, the; Chairman- stated, . had been sent stating that j-20 would .'probably cover their require- ' ments. . , . '■■'-"'. i] Mr N". A. Boos, by j^[r G, P. 'Hawkins; : wrote. to the Board requesting payment : of balance, qf fine not yet refunded, and alto 'for 'extras on contract LongburnKairaoga Road m 1885, amount £17 2s. It was resolved, |on the motion of Warden. Sly, seconded by Wardta; Edvirardß; that the claim be resisted. -Mr A. McKenzie wrote re improvement to road m Fitzherbert leading to his property. It was resolved to leave the matter to the Warden for that part of the dis trict. The Engineer's report was r«ad, re bridge on Flyger's Line. It was resolved that tha repairs be left m the hands of the Engineer who had, recommended expenditure to the extent of £12 10s. Attention of Board was drawn to the bad state of the bridges on the Stoney Creek Road, three m particular. Th« Ngawhakaran drain would soon be closed up, and he did not see any remedy with the means at command and suoh numerous disadvantages. '■■■ TL«fli Sittinef.l ; r
