A Suggestion.

Might we ask those of our more remote country subscribers, whese papers have been delivered during tho summer with unfailing regularity, could they possibly arrange for them to be ' left at some nearer or handier place thau at present. Off all tho niain roads our mounted runners have to go distances varying from one to three miles each' way, delivering; papers, which double journey adds greatly to the i length of' £he^ run, and is heavy o:i both lads and horses. The Ashurst run by itself now requires fpurjiorses, thb return journey, counting' district and by-roads, being over 30 miles, this distance being covered every week-day. We made no objection t6 delivering to remote sub scribers anywhere" in the disinct, while the roads were good, the weather fino, and the days long ; but now with heavy roads, short days-, "and bad weather, we would be glad if any of the more distant subscribers could arrange for their papors being left nearer to the main roads th'aii hitherto. Where any saving of distance as. suggested could, be arranged; we shall be glad to avail ourselves of it, but if ft cannot be conveniently done,; the distribution will be maintained as heretofore, though the delivery may at times be late , towards the end of the runs. Some of our runners are not home till 9 p.m., after which they have to attend*' to their horses and put them m the paddock". If our country circulation extends as at present we shall have to arrange for one lad to take the' main roads,' and another the district roada. This will entail additional expense m wngts and horseflesh, bu£ : it will hava' to be done before longr-pr^rfb'iy next spuing. The number of hor'sep m regular work has within the last f«w days been increased from ten to twelve, and still the latter number is barely sufficient for f ha distances rerequired to be covered, some of it being very heavy .travelling, and m all kiuds of weather.
