Railway Accident.
An accident occurred to the through, railway train from New Plymouth to v/an^nniii yesterday afternoon. It appears that when the train had reached tlia vicinity of Olcehu, about 2.10 p.rn, «!ie nxleof the engine broke, and the front wheels left the rails, but the entrine itself kept the centre of the track. The engine is of course considerably damaged, but we understand that no other injury has been done, eitheV to the road or stock. The accident caused a block on the line, the result being that ' the 4.15 train from town was brought to a standstill at Okeliu, and had to return to town. The department took prompt and energetic steps to get the line clear, and the north train was v started' again from tho town station at 8.30 p.m., and got through without any difficulty. It is fortunnte that the accident occurred \vhete it did, as had it taken place on the bridge, the consequence might have been very serious. — Chronicle..
