While his "" playmate was handling a gun it exploded, the shot entering Roper's arms, Jegß, and face. The injuries are not serious. Greymotjth, Thursday. Dr McCarthy, while riding on horseback nt Taylorville yesterday, was thrown through his horse shyin . His foot not caught m the stirrup, and he was dragged ahout t9n yards. He was bleeding very freely when picked up," and his skull is fractured. He now lies m the hospital m a precarious . condition, Ohristchuroh, Wednesday. A case of savage assault by a woman, came hefore the Police Conrfc; today. Mrs Fitzsimmons was accusedr,of yio-l-ntlv assaulting her husband, James Fifzsiininoris. It is alleged. that last night she struck her husband and then nttciiM't<-d to mutilate him. He. was: fi.nnrt lying on his bed covered with' lilooii, and this morning he was removed to the hospital. The woman wjag remanded till to-morrow to obtain medical evi.lenqe^aiLtp the injuries. The man is expected to tecover.
