The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited report I uader date March 4 : — Butter (free).— Sine* oar last report this market has experienced two rises of 3d each, but owing to the large supplies ' how being received from Melbourne and local sources (the latter having hitherto been held back awaiting the abovie-men-j tioned ad varicein rates), values haW not advanced to any great extent for New Zealand makes, and at the moment sales are hard to make at anything over lid for prime. Second quality, 9d. Market depressed. Oheese (duty 2d per ft).— -We have to chronicle a further fall m values, which are now B£d for best quality, inferior 6d, with but a poor demand and a full market. Hams and Bacon (duty 2d per ft).— Bacon has lately shown a little more animation, and up to 9d has been ob. tamed for any really good lines offering. Hams are neglected and practically unsaleable. Oats (free).— ln the face of a "drooping Maize Market buyers are very chary of speculating to any great extent m this " cereal, and 2s 5d is an outside quotation for prime, bright, stout feed. Seed hag a good enquiry at 2s 6d to 2s Bd. Honey (free),— The New Zealand article is not m favour here, as a feeling seems to prevail that it is not always pur*, and sales of same m bulk are hard to I make even at 3d per ft.
