. . [Chronicle.} . . : The Waverley races passed off fairly successfully yesterday. . Visitors from other parts* of the district were present m considerablenuinbers,.and the train from Wanganui was well patronised. The course was m a very indifferent condition. No band was present to enliven the proceedings as m former yenrs, the only music .being that of the sword swallower. The tolalisator was under the efficient manageement of Mr J. Poole.
