ANOTHER INTERVIEW. WITH THE NATIVE MINISTER.: .
, Hori Ropilia and the other Natives ac--company!rig him had another interview with Mr Bnllance on Friday at the Government Buildings. During the inter : view the Natives asked that the restrictions as to the use of arms and ammunition should be removed, and Mr Ballunce replied toat the time was at hand when the Government would be abl9todo away with the restrictions. They stated their objections to the manners m which someblocksof land had passed through the Native Land Courts; They objected to lawyers appearing m the courts, and to land companies acquiring blocks of Native lands throngh tlie medium of the Courts. They strong--,ly objected to ; public-houses ;• ; being allowed m Native districts, and to the sale ot liquor therein. Ropiha said the Natives wished to bring one very important matter under the Native Minister's notice. Ihey were much distressed at the extinction of the forests throughout the colony, as they believed that it would lead to the extinction of Native birds. The question of leasing Native lands was also brought up, and it was stated, that the Natives had suffered considerably by the present mode of leasing, especially as regarded claims fov improvements, which were contrary to the original agreement.
