(UNITKD PBESS ASSOCIATION.) • New Plymouth, Thursday. -- , The following.are,. additional particuT lars respecting the suicide on board the Hawea yesterday morning : — Kaye was allowed the run of the vessel bn^the wav dpwn, and was very quiet, and passed his time, on -Tuesday night, until a late hbur, m reading. Mr Binstead, the chief steward, happened to pass at this ' time, and 5n told what had occurred, he lowered /himself over the side of the vessel, and peered m through|the porthole.,,,. The port . hole is. ? 13 inches diameter, . quite large "enough , for an ordinary man to get through. Kaye was about 26 years of age, and. , was of medium build, and a little- above; the medium height. The spot .where the suicide was committed was about 15 miles from New Plymouth.. There were half a-dozen -people or so on. the deck, but they did hot notice anything to lead them to believe that such a -tragedy had been enacted. An official inquiry into the circumstances connected with the suicide was held at 11 a.m. to-day l\y Mr Thompson, Collector of Customs. The inquiry elicited nothing new and all the cirou instances point to the conclusion that no one is to blame. .
