Attention has been called by Captain Garden, of the Margaret G-albraith, to •the Hydra Rock, northward of Cape Saunders. This rock is not very accurately laid down on the charts. When the Margaret Galbraith was running up from Capw Saunders on January 28, a passeuger drew Captain Garden's attention to the appearance of a shoal, whereupon he ordered the helm to be put "hard a port" at which time he could see ground under the ship's bottom, and he believes not more than 12fl of 'water was on the rock liere. The position then was from three-quarters" to one mile north of the point laid down m the charts for Hydra Rock. He mentioned the matter to the t pilot, but; i was jeered atj : but the striking of the; 1 Waihora recalled the matter to 'him. The existence of a rte'e has been disbelieved by some masters, but Captain Cardens stat. ment appears to set that point at rest. - Auckland, Thursday. At the adjourned inquest this afternoon on this body of Mrs Mary .Scott, j further evidence was taken, but nothing was adduced to show that- Scott had accelerated his wife's death by unjustifiably conduct, "or that thtfre had been; anything more than a drunken quarrel.
