(SrECIAB TO UNITED PRK9S ASSOCIATION/) London, Feb. 22^ It is reported that General Alikhanoff, a Russian . officer, with 1000 men, is marching on Msiimann, a town 200 miles to the north : east of Herat, which was captured by' the Afghans m 1874. The prospects of the Indian harvest are of a favorable nature. (reuter's telegrams.) London, Feb. 21. A mass meeting of unemployed was held m Hyde Park to-day under the auspices of the Socialist organisation. There was an enormous attendance, fully 40,000 parsons being present. Speeches were made condemning the proposal to establish relief works for the unemployed. Burns, a leading Socialist, against whom proceedings have been taken m convection with the late disturbances, m the course of his address predicted that bloodshed would ensue unless the social reforms asked for were granted. There was a large force of police on the ground and m the neighborhood, but their services wore not called into requisition as the assemblage dispersed m an ordorly manner. His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales has left town for Cannes, m the South of Franco. The Now Zealand Shipping: Co.'t R.M.S.
