The town has been a scene of riotous proceedings, the imb of operatives pirachd the town smashing the windows of the factory proprietary and other persons who were obnoxious to them. They then proceeded to wreck the factories, quantities of valuable 'm icuinery being destroyed. The police were totally unable to cope with ihe outbreak and large numbiis of residents were obliged to be sworn m as special constables, v.; . ,
