THIS DAY.
Before Messrs McNeil and Waldegrave. ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. Alfred Grainmei v. Qower — obtaining cattle under false pretences. Defendant who is a butcher residing m Woodville, gave a cheque to pay for cattle, and same was dishonoured. Withdrawn on application of Mr Haokins for plaintiff. LARCENY. T. Smith on 13th for stealing a whip the property of E. Turner, received a sentence of 3 months hard labour. Prisoner had brien previously convicted m 1884 for a sitniliar otfenco committed at Terrace End, and also on two other occasions. VAGRANT ACT. Frank Oliver was charged with a breach of the Vagrancy Act. It was shown that prisoner had called at a nunv ber of houses at Terrace End, begging tor alms last week. Sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labour.
