Suicide m a Lock-up.

('UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Woodville, Wdenesday. A prisoner named John Cauieron alias Barlow hanged himself m the lock-up here last night. The prisoner was being taken to Masterton to answer a charga of obtaining money by false pretences. It appears that lie took a strap, which he previously concealed on his person, and fastened it to the grating of his cell, and put his head through the noose. A son of his was sleeping m the cell with him, but knew nothing of it until awakened ,m the morning. An inquest will be held to-morrow.
